Player, Coach & Volunteer Development

Laugharne RFC is committed to supporting the ongoing development of its coaches, volunteers, and club officials. As a grassroots, volunteer‑led club, we recognise that continued learning and development is essential to providing a safe, inclusive and positive rugby environment for all.

The club promotes Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities through Dysgu WRU, the WRU’s official education and development platform for community clubs. Dysgu WRU provides free and accessible learning opportunities across key areas including coaching, safeguarding, club governance, equality, diversity and inclusion, and club sustainability. Any member of the club is encouraged to engage with these opportunities to support their personal development and the long‑term health of the club. [wru.wales], [wru.wales]

Safeguarding & Welfare

Laugharne RFC is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk. The club adopts and follows the WRU Safeguarding Policy and works to ensure that rugby is delivered in a safe, respectful and inclusive environment.

Safeguarding training and awareness form a key part of volunteer and coach development, with resources and guidance provided through WRU platforms. All safeguarding concerns are managed in line with WRU procedures, recognising that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility within the club.

Alignment with WRU Development Strategy

Through the promotion of Dysgu WRU and engagement with WRU development and safeguarding frameworks, Laugharne RFC aligns with the WRU One Wales Strategy (2024–2029). This supports the development of a skilled volunteer workforce, safe and inclusive environments, and the long‑term sustainability of community rugby clubs across Wales.
