Providing Rugby in the Community of Laugharne
Club History: Laugharne Rugby Football Club traces its roots back to the late 19th century, with strong evidence of rugby being played in the town as early as 1879, two years before the formation of the Welsh Rugby Union. The earliest confirmed team photograph dates from the 1893/94 season, marking the official foundation of the club.
From its earliest days, Laugharne RFC has been known for its spirited play and warm hospitality. Admission to the West Wales League in 1971/72 was a turning point, introducing a faster, more expansive style of rugby that set the club apart.
Over the decades, Laugharne RFC has produced talented players, including Gary Pearce, who went on to represent Bridgend, Llanelli, and Wales. Many players who tested themselves at higher levels have returned to Laugharne, contributing to its enduring strength and community spirit.
Today, the club continues to thrive and would like to improve its contributions to grassroots rugby through re-introducing a junior section. Celebrating 125 years in 2018, Laugharne RFC remains a proud symbol of tradition, passion, and community in West Wales.
